World Cities Summit 2022: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will present the Delhi model to the world at the World Cities Summit-2022 to be held in Singapore in August. High Commissioner of Singapore Simon Wang today met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat and invited him to attend the World Cities Summit-2022 to be held in Singapore.
Accepting the invitation, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he is looking forward to participate in the World Cities Summit-2022 and discuss urban solutions with global leaders. Also, CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Government of Singapore for this invitation. During the meeting, CM Arvind Kejriwal and Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wang discussed cooperation in areas like water, waste management and public housing. To this, High Commissioner Simon Wang said that both Delhi and Singapore are distinct urban centres, facing similar problems.
The meeting took place at the Delhi Secretariat.
During the meeting held at Delhi Secretariat this morning, High Commissioner Simon Wang said that he also lives in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s assembly constituency and as a resident he also considers CM Arvind Kejriwal as his senior in the governance sector and he has decided to join the New Delhi Assembly. He was highly appreciated for the development done in the area.
During this, High Commissioner Simon Wang invited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on behalf of the Singapore government to participate in the prestigious World Cities Summit-2022. He also presented a formal invitation letter from the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore to CM Arvind Kejriwal. CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Government of Singapore for the invitation received from Simon Wang and said that he is excited to participate in this summit and for this he will send formal approval to the Singapore Government.
When will this summit be held?
In fact, the World Cities Summit-2022 is an exclusive platform for government leaders and industry experts to share urban challenges, solve them and forge new partnerships. It is jointly organized by the Center for Liveable Cities and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore. This time the summit will be held on 2 and 3 August 2022. WCS 2022 will also host the WCS Smart Cities Workshop, an exclusive in-person networking event to take forward the Smart City project through a one-on-one consultation clinic with appropriate partners and funders.
Do Delhi and Singapore have the same problems?
High Commissioner Simon Wong said that both Delhi and Singapore are distinct urban centres, which have similar problems. He said that there is huge scope for cooperation between Delhi and Singapore especially in the areas of water, environment, public housing and solid waste management. During this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told him about the redevelopment project of Delhi’s roads. The CM said that the Delhi government is ready to invite Singapore companies to develop the roads under the pilot project. At the same time, the High Commissioner said that he would like to cooperate in this project. During the meeting, the leaders also discussed about the efforts of Delhi to deal with the epidemic and the vaccination program for the safety of the people.
