Rajnath Singh Vietnam Visit: After America, France and Russia, India has now signed a logistic support agreement with Vietnam. The two countries signed this agreement in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi on Wednesday. This agreement is taking place at a time when there is news that China is also preparing an intelligence naval base in the Southeast Asian country of Cambodia.
Under the Mutual Logistics Support Agreement signed between India and Vietnam, warships and aircraft of both countries will be able to stop at each other’s bases without any restrictions. During the long flight of planes or the long journey of warships, they will also be able to halt and refuel at each other’s country’s military bases. India is the first country with which Vietnam has signed such logistic support agreement. However, India has already entered into such agreements with America, France and Russia.
Rajnath Singh on Vietnam visit
Let us tell you that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has gone on a three-day (June 8-10) visit to Vietnam these days. On Wednesday, the Defense Minister visited Vietnam’s National Defense Headquarters and met with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Phan Van Giang. The Defense Ministers of both the countries also signed a Joint Vision Statement on India Vietnam Defense Partnership 2030. According to the Defense Ministry of India, through this vision, there will be an increase in defense cooperation between the two countries.
During his visit to Hanoi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also announced financial assistance to the Vietnam Air Force for setting up two simulator gifts and IT labs. Rajnath Singh called for the use of the already announced US $ 500 million Defense Line of Credit (LoC) for Vietnam to strengthen Vietnam’s defense infrastructure. Earlier, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh started his Hanoi tour by paying homage at the tomb of Vietnam’s founder and former President Ho Chi Minh.
Rajnath Singh will also present 12 high speed boats
During his visit to Vietnam, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also present 12 high speed boats to Vietnam. These boats will be used by Vietnam as the protection of its maritime borders. Let us tell you that just as India is having a LAC dispute with China, in the same way Vietnam has been having a dispute with China over maritime boundaries for a long time.
The boats to be given to Vietnam have been manufactured by L&T Company with the help of $100 million Defense Line of Credit (LoC) given by India to Vietnam. The agreement to make these boats was signed by the Prime Minister in the year 2016. Narendra Modi happened during his visit to Vietnam. During that time a strategic partnership was established between the two countries.
Rajnath Singh to visit training center of Vietnam’s army
Visiting South-East Asian country at the invitation of Vietnam’s National Defense Minister, General Phan Van Giang. During his visit, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also visit the training center of the Vietnam Army. Apart from this, the Defense Minister will also inaugurate the Army Software Park at the Telecommunication University of Vietnam for which India had given a grant of 5 million US dollars. Rajnath Singh will also participate in the community program organized by the Embassy of India in Vietnam, in which people of Indian origin will also participate.
Let us tell you that this year 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam are being completed. In such a situation, the visit of the Defense Minister to Vietnam becomes very important. Because defense cooperation, joint military exercises, defense dialogue and cooperation between the naval forces form a strong foundation between the two countries. A comprehensive strategic partnership has also been established between India and Vietnam since 2016.
