Himanta Biswa Sarma Government Will Make Separate Classification Of Muslims Native To Assam | Assam News: असम के मूल निवासी मुस्लिमों का होगा अलग वर्गीकरण, जानें
Muslims Separate Classification: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the state cabinet will take a decision on separate classification for indigenous minorities by August 15. These minorities will also include those Muslims who did not come from other places. Sarma, however, did not clarify whether the non-native minorities would continue to get minority benefits after this new classification.
“Assam is on the second leg of its journey,” he told a press conference here. We are in the process of identifying another group of minority people who are not from outside Assam. He is the native of this earth.

Cabinet will take decision by August 15
The Chief Minister said that the committee constituted for this purpose has already laid down some criteria as to who should be considered as the original minority. I think the cabinet will take a decision on this before August 15. Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and other communities, as well as Muslims, are recognized as a minority, regardless of their migration status.
Sarma said that unless the Supreme Court makes any other observation, the minority is a minority following the definition of Islam as per the commission’s definition. Simultaneously, Sarma said that we want to qualify minorities by including another adjective ‘original minority’. Not everyone will be involved in this.
