Ministry Of Defense Approved Defense Purchases: Taking an important step towards ‘self-reliant-India’ in the defense sector, the Defense Acquisition Council on Monday approved the purchase of engines of tanks, trucks, warships and aircraft worth 76 thousand crores. In the meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, approval was given to purchase these weapons and military equipment.

According to the Defense Ministry, in the meeting of Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) held on Monday, Apprentices of Necessity (AON) was approved for the purchase of 76,390 crores for the Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard. AON is the first process of tender for any defense purchase.

The Defense Ministry has approved the purchase of which products?
The DAC i.e. Defense Acquisition Council has approved these purchases in the categories of Buy-India, Buy and Make India and Buy-India-IDDM i.e. Indigenous Design Development and Manufacturing. The Ministry of Defense has procured Bridge Laying Tanks, Wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) equipped with Anti Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs), Rough Terrain Fork Lift Trucks (RFLTs) and Weapon Locating Radars (WLRs) for the Army. was approved.

How many crore warships have been approved for the Navy?
For the Navy (Indian Navy), Corvits (Warships-Warships) worth 36 thousand crores have been approved. Although the number of warships has not been given, but according to the Ministry of Defense, these will be Next Generation Corvit (NJC) Versatile Warships. These warships will be used for surveillance missions, escort operations, surface action groups, search and attack and coastal security.
