The decision of Ram temple from the Supreme Court may have come on 9 November 2019, but the preparations for the construction of the temple had started from 1989. In 1989, bricks were first asked from the devotees of Ram with Shila Pujan / Shila Nyas. The next year i.e. in September 1990, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad workshop was established in Ayodhya. In this workshop, the work of carving stone for the construction of the temple was started by taking pink stone. According to the design of the earlier Ram temple, 60 to 65 percent of the work was completed by the time the decision came, but after the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of the Ram temple, the structure of the temple was enlarged by changing the design. In such a situation, now 40 percent of the stone work has been completed.
The work of the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple being built with pink stones is starting from Wednesday. These Pink Sand Stones are from Bansi Pahad of Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Nagara style artwork is being engraved on them. Earlier the work of these stones was completely done by hand, but now since the work of temple construction has increased, so machines are now used. He is going. The old design of the temple was to be 128 feet in height, 140 feet in width and 255 feet in length. However, after the change in design, now the height of the temple will be 161 feet, width is 255 feet and length will be 350 feet. A total of 4 lakh cubic feet of stone will be installed in the temple. In the earlier design, one lakh 75 thousand cubic feet of stone was to be used.
Foundation stone was laid in August 2020
The stones used in the construction of the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya were hand sculpted before the order of the Supreme Court. However, after the foundation stone was laid in August 2020, due to the speed and large size of the temple construction, the work of sculpting these stones is now being done by machine. About 180 stones are kept in the Ram Katha Kunj of Ayodhya, on which the work of carving is being done by machine and by hand. Two craftsmen do carving work on a stone. The shape is first made on them with a machine and after that the work of engraving them is done by hand. The stone artisan told that if 2 artisans work on one stone, then the stone work will be completed in about 2 months. At present, a total of 20 artisans are engaged in the work, whose number can increase to 100 in the coming days.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad spokesperson Sharad Sharma said that he has witnessed all the events from the 1989 Shila Pujan to the establishment of the workshop. Sharad Sharma told that these pink stones have been imported from Rajasthan and their age is 1000 years according to the scientists. He told that by December 2023, the work of the sanctum sanctorum will be completed. After this, there is an attempt to make Ramlala sit on the day of Makar Sankranti in January 2024. According to Sharad Sharma, stones have been kept in the workshop and gradually they will be sent to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex.
Getting happy imagining a grand temple
Sharad told that since the work of stone sculpting is going on in the workshop of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, since then devotees coming to Ayodhya definitely come to see the stones in the workshop. Seeing these stones, people become happy only by imagining what a grand Ram temple would be like. When we asked some such devotees who came from Karnataka and Maharashtra, they said that they have come to see the stones now and when the temple is built, then they will come to see Ram Lalla in their house. People are very happy to see the stones and believe that very soon the grand and divine temple of Ramlala will be ready.
